WHO IS MAKO?
I’m a multidisciplinary artist and designer based in Florida, drawn to anything strange, nostalgic, and slightly off-beat. My work pulls from the things that shaped me — 90s cartoons, surreal films, music, niche subcultures, and the kind of graffiti you only catch on trains or tucked deep in a city alley. There’s an honesty in that raw, unpolished creativity that hits harder than any museum wall. It reminds me of that kid-brain freedom where you make things because it feels good, not because you’re told to.
My practice blends digital work, illustration, and hands-on studio experimentation. I’m interested in emotion, personality, and visual storytelling — whether I’m designing for a client or staying up at 2 a.m. chasing a weird idea that won’t leave me alone. People tend to describe me as kind, funny, and a little left-field, and I think that energy shows up in my art: expressive, playful, and grounded in real feeling.
